Vitamin D Injections

For optimal health, the body requires the right balance of vitamins and minerals. When someone experiences a vitamin D deficiency, our qualified practitioners at DRC360 Spa have the perfect solution: vitamin D injections.

Vitamin D, which is known as the “sunshine vitamin,” works to maintain strong bones and muscles, but it also helps regulate minerals, phosphorous, and calcium found in the body. Unfortunately, many people have a deficiency of this vitamin, which has been proven to be far more harmful than initially thought. In fact, experts have linked a vitamin D deficiency to coronary artery disease, heart attacks, and even strokes.

Although vitamin D is essential for good health, approximately 10 percent of adults in the United States have a deficiency. The problem is that most of these individuals are unaware of the problem. Only after complaining of certain symptoms and having blood drawn at the doctor’s office is a deficiency confirmed.

Amy has been taking care of me for a while now and my skin has never looked better…..she takes the time to really explain the process of everything she does and she’s also got a great personality. Making the experience an enjoyable one!!!! -Nicole S.

Standard Vitamin D Range

The standard range of vitamin D for most people is between 20 and 50 nanograms per milliliter, or ng/ml. When the level drops to 12 ng/ml or lower, it indicates a deficiency. The most common symptoms include muscle weakness, bone pain, depression, hypertension, and fatigue. However, experts now believe that people with a deficiency also have a 53 percent increased risk of developing dementia. A vitamin D deficiency is unhealthy for anyone, but it is especially dangerous for women who also struggle with low calcium levels.

While some people take vitamin D2, our practitioners at DRC360 Spa often recommend D3. This fat-soluble vitamin helps the body absorb phosphorus and calcium. This vitamin is available in foods like cheese, egg yolks, fatty fish, and beef liver; in foods fortified with vitamin D, including dairy products; and by spending time in the sun. For a deficiency, many people turn to over-the-counter pills, but because they pass through the gastrointestinal tract, their effectiveness diminishes greatly.

Severe Deficiency

When a deficiency is severe, vitamin D injections are a beneficial therapy. At DRC360 Spa, our practitioners tailor this therapy to each person’s needs. In addition to a healthier heart, lower blood pressure, better mental health, and reduced muscle weakness and joint pain, vitamin D injections enhance pancreas, sleep, eye, respiratory, hair and skin, and reproductive health.

Depending on the level of the deficiency, our practitioners inject the appropriate type of vitamin D and in the right dose. For D3, the injected dose ranges anywhere from 400 to 150,000 IU. For D2, the dose ranges from 1,000 to 600,000 IU. Typically, vitamin D is injected intramuscularly as a single injection for someone with a deficiency. Not only are the injections safe, they are also practical and effective.

Although some people experience slight discomfort with vitamin D injections, our practitioners at DRC360 Spa have extensive knowledge and skill to ensure comfort. Because the vitamin goes directly into the muscle as opposed to through the gastrointestinal system, deficiencies typically are corrected quickly.
