Am I a Good Candidate for Vaginal PRP?

Our bodies go through a number of significant changes as we age. Some of these are expected, like looking older and experiencing a decrease in range of movement. Other changes can be quite surprising and can affect areas of the body you were not expecting them to. Some women may be genetically predisposed to developing these issues at an earlier age or may experience them after giving birth.

Vaginal rejuvenation using PRP can be used to address a number of vaginal health issues for women of all ages. Vaginal PRP can be used to treat issues that affect a woman’s sex life or her overall quality of life. Some of these issues include:

  • Lack of sexual satisfaction
  • Lack of sensation in the vaginal tissues
  • Urinary incontinence
  • Vaginal dryness

How Is the Vaginal PRP Treatment Performed?

Vaginal PRP is a rejuvenation treatment that utilizes a special substance known as platelet-rich plasma (PRP). The PRP used for the treatment is actually a product that comes from harvesting and processing the patient’s own blood.

Blood is comprised of various components, one of which is platelets. Blood platelets are packed with growth factors and essential nutrients that offer a number of benefits. In order to harvest the platelets, blood must be taken from the patient and placed in a centrifuge that will separate the platelets from the other components of the blood. Once the process is complete, the end product will be a form of plasma with a highly concentrated amount of platelets.

The PRP is placed into syringes so that it can be injected into the tissues of the vagina and also around the clitoris. The growth factors in the PRP trigger new tissue growth and cell multiplication. This will increase sensitivity in the area and can lead to a happier sex life.

The injections will also stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, two structural proteins that make tissues stronger, tighter, and more resilient. This helps to increase sexual satisfaction and decrease the likelihood of experiencing incontinence.

The treatment process takes only about an hour to perform. A laughing gas (nitrous oxide) delivery system called PRO-NOX can be used to reduce discomfort. Even after the use of PRO-NOX, you will be able to drive yourself home. The results provided can last for up to 12 months. After this period, additional treatments can be performed for prolonged results.
