How Are Lip Fillers Administered?

Lip fillers are administered by injecting a small amount of specially designed solutions called fillers into your lips; the whole procedure takes less than an hour in most cases and is done on an outpatient basis with simple local anesthesia.

How do injectable fillers work? What is the treatment like?

Your injector uses a small, thin needle to inject filler into various parts of your lip, based on your treatment plan. Commonly treated areas of the lips for lip filler include the edges (vermillion border), the center curve of the upper lip (the cupid's bow), and the corners of the mouth to prevent a drooping, frown-like appearance.

There is no pain involved in lip filler treatment, and the look will last for six months to two years, depending on factors like which filler, how much of it is used, and what area it is used in.

Is there any pain?

Usually, no. Lip injections are not painful for most people. Topical numbing cream can be used to numb the area so that the patient feels nothing. If you do feel pain or have any questions or concerns about how much you will feel, you can address that with Dr. Cavazos in your initial consultation, and he will be happy to put you at ease and offer options for you.
