Bellafill is injected directly beneath the affected area with an ultrafine needle that adds permanent structural support and smoothens the affected area. Bellafill consists of about 3.5% hypoallergenic bovine collagen, 20% polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA), 30- to 42-micron microsphere, and 0.3% lidocaine. The synthetic microspheres PMMA are not metabolized or absorbed into the body, allowing the treatment to last for a more extended period more than other products. Bellafill enables the body to generate its natural collagen, capsulize each microsphere, and then permanently fill in the wrinkle. As the injected collagen is absorbed slowly into the body, the newly self-produced collagen then replaces it. This steady breakdown and natural replenishment process provide Beljulafill with its exceptional and lasting results.
Bellafill is more efficient than other fillers, like Juvederm Voluma, Restylane, Juvederm, and Radiance. The significant difference is that the results from Bellafill last much longer. In some cases, like the treatment under the eye or lower eyelid bags, it gives much better results since Bellafill is so smooth and can be airbrushed into place with a cannula with more precision than some other fillers. The results are permanent and require surgical removal of the collagen for reversal effects. Also, sometimes only one or two treatment sessions are needed. Some patients require about three to four treatments to get the beautiful lasting correction.
Patients may experience swelling, redness, sensitivity, lumps, and pain at the injection spot. There may be mild bruising that typically heals within two to seven days. The patient may also experience itching and rash not more than two days after treatment.
The safety of Bellafill for patients under 21 years of age, pregnant women, or during breastfeeding has not been established. An allergy skin test is required before use, and it should be administered under the supervision of a trained and licensed practitioner. Always contact your physician if you notice an unusual skin reaction.
