Everybody wants healthy and beautiful skin, that goes without saying. But what if we told you that, with a few lifestyle changes, you could make your skin look better and aesthetic treatments would work even BETTER for you? Well, it’s true. In this guide, we are going to go over some healthy ways you can better your skin (and better your life, too).
Eat a healthy, rich in good fats
Your skin and your nutrition are irrevocably linked. When you take in healthy fats rich in Omega-6 fatty acids, you will soon notice your skin thanking you visibly. These fatty acids are the building blocks for your cell membranes. Fats hydrate and radiate your skin. Some sources of healthy fats include coconut oil, avocado, nuts, fish, and olives.
Less is more
Try to keep the products you put on your skin to a minimum. You don't need to be jumping around to 100 different products each year for your skin. Find a core group of skin products that work for you and stick to them. There is alot of marketing out there trying to convince us that we need new things when what we are using is fine! Your skin can react negatively when you use too many things all at once.
Don't pop pimples!
When a pimple does appear, don’t panic. It happens to everyone now and then. Give them air, let them breathe, and they will go away on their own. When you pop them, it could leave you with scars. The bacteria that comes out of them is also bad for your skin and will lead to more of them popping up.
Keep your bed clean
This is one not everyone thinks about. Try to keep your bed clean all the time if you can. Clean your sheets once every 1-2 weeks to keep them fresh. The excess oils and dirt from your face often end up on your pillowcase and sheets. When they stay that way for a long time, you might end up rubbing your face in it every night!
Check your vitamin levels
Feel like you’re doing it all and you aren’t getting results? Check out how many vitamins you’re getting in your diet. There are online quizzes out there that can help you check your vitamin intake based on what you eat. See what you’re lacking and adjust your diet or supplement to get yourself back into the swing of things. It will benefit not just your skin, but often your mind and body as well.
We have a post coming up about vitamins that you need for your skin and how you can get them!
Stay away from store-bought “acne” products
Do not go out to your local Walgreens and look for a solution to your acne. Acne is solved quickly when you visit a dermatologist who can examine your issue and help you pick the products that will work for you. Many of these acne products have been knowing to strip you of the essential oil your skin needs.
Try a makeup detox
You’ve probably tried every other kind of detox! Makeup isn’t good for the skin. It clogs pores and some use chemicals that are harsh on the skin. It’s fun and helps us look and feel great, but keep it under control. If you have a few days off, go without it. If you notice a pimple here or there, your skin might be detoxing. Let it do its thing and your skin will thank you for it in the long run.
Own your skin
Don’t look in the mirror each day asking for issues and nit-picking yourself apart. You are beautiful, especially when you smile, and feeling bad will cause stress that can make skin worse. Notice what you LOVE about yourself every day. You’ll feel more confident and your skin will show it!
